Hello, I am both employed and self-employed and my total taxable income will take me into the higher tax bracket this year. I am making pension payments through my PAYE income as net salary but this is only attracting tax relief at the basic rate of 20% because my salary from that employer is under the higher tax bracket threshold. As my total taxable income is in the higher rate tax bracket, can I claim pension tax relief at the higher rate on the pension payments I make through my PAYE income? And if so, is this done through my self-assessment or is there another way to do it?

Hi,
As a higher rate taxpayer, you can claim additional tax relief on your pension payments. If you complete Self Assessment tax returns, this can be claimed through your return. You can see guidance here:
Tax on your private pension contributions
Thank you.
