My circumstances , have just received my tax code notice for 2425 1. Receive a civil service pension of 9000 2. Work 1 day a week earning 3300 Notice says 12570 income of supermarket is free Pension income £0 is tax free and code is BR My combined wage is £12300 and I do not want to pay HMRC 20% of my pension only to get a refund next year, I need this to live on Is it possible to split tax codes ? Ie code the pension at 900L and the supermarket for the rest 357L If this is not possible would HMRC put my main allowance against my pension as that is my main source of income I feel as I am under the threshold I shouldn't pay any tax and then get it refunded when it clearly shows I am under Thanks in advance

Hi Solwolf,
Yes if your income is below the personal allowance then the allowance can be split between the 2 sources of income.
If you have an online account Personal tax account: sign in or set up you can update the estimate held for your income which will then amend the tax codes.
If unable to amend online you can contact HMRC to review and update Income Tax: general enquiries.
Thank you.
