I was previously employed and doing a second job to top up my income. My tax codes for 2024 state that the second income is going to be taxed at 40%. I have since left my primary employment and am only earning via the original second job. Will my 1250L code transfer to my second job automatically, once notification of the cessation if my primary employment is confirmed? Or do I need to take action to notify someone?

Hi,

That is correct, once we receive confirmation that your previous primary occupation has ceased, your secondary employment should be updated to your primary, and your tax code should be allocated to that employment. If this does not automatically happen, though, please contact our Income Tax team and we can update your employments.

Thank you.

I just recently got a second employment and in my first month, which means I have not received any wages yet. However I want to make my new/second job the primary and main source of income. How do I go about that?
