I submitted a P55 on 2nd May. I got an email confirmation of the submission. Yet in my Personal tax account under 'Check progress' I do not see my form. I can see last years form as 'Completed', but no sign of this years form. Should I be worried. Some acquaintances submitted around a similar time and they can see their forms in 'in progress' state!

Hi greenman,
It's possible that there's been an error in your submission, or something's gone wrong in processing your form. You may wish to try submitting the P55 again - if you encounter the same issue again, contact us by webchat or phone via Income Tax: general enquiries , where we can review your record and advise you further.
Thank you.

Is it just me who has been going round and round in circles for hours this year with the online P55 submission? It seems that now when you click on the 'Send Online' option, then fill out all the details and finally click on 'Send the completed P55 form to HMRC' it doesn't work. It says Print and sign and then post the form. Is the submit online no longer available? Because the HMRC site clearly states; Submit Online but then only gives the option to Print and Post at the end! Can anyone explain what is going on?

You should be able to submit online. That’s what I did with mine, it immediately came back with a ‘Submitted’ message and gave me the form reference number. It also sent me an email. My issue is it doesn’t show in the ‘Check Progress’ tab. If you aren’t even getting the Submitted message then ensure it’s not just complaining about an incorrectly filled field, sometimes these warnings aren’t that obvious.

Hi DavidW,

The online option is still available:

Claim back tax on a flexibly accessed pension overpayment (P55)

Thank you.

I submitted my Form P55 online on 30/4/24. My Personal Tax Account shows this as ‘In Progress’. According to HMRC timescales, I should have received a reply by 9/6/24. To date no reply and no refund. How long should this take to be processed and the refund made? I submitted a Form P55 last year, and received the refund within 2 weeks of submitting the form.

Likewise. At least you can see yours is ‘in progress’ I am assured by the helpdesk that my form is registered and In Progress (it took three weeks before I even got that confirmation!). I’d been through this progress for a few years now and I’ve always had my refund my the end of May previously. My case is very straight forward so should be a few minutes work tops once someone actually bothers looking at it.

It’s ridiculous that it is taking so long, and not possible to even speak to anyone about it. I have submitted an online complaint which is showing as ‘in progress’.

If you've submitted a P55 form and cannot see it in your Personal Tax account website, there could be several reasons for this: 1. **Processing Time:** It may take some time for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to process your form and update your account. Typically, processing times can vary depending on the current workload and the type of form submitted. 2. **Technical Issues:** Sometimes, there may be technical issues with the website or your account specifically that prevent the form from appearing immediately. Try logging out and logging back in, or accessing your account from a different browser or device. 3. **Submission Confirmation:** Ensure that you received confirmation that your P55 form was successfully submitted. If you did not receive any confirmation, it's possible that the submission did not go through, and you may need to resubmit the form. 4. **Contact HMRC:** If you're still unable to see your submitted P55 form after waiting for a reasonable amount of time (typically a few weeks), consider contacting HMRC directly. They can provide specific information about the status of your submission and any actions you may need to take. To summarize, delays in seeing your submitted P55 form could be due to processing times, technical issues, or confirmation of submission. Checking your account periodically and contacting HMRC if necessary should help resolve the issue.
