HI - I completed the self assessment checker (SI income less than £1000) and it said I didn't need to complete a SA form. I now have a £100 penalty. I would have submitted the form if the checker had said needed to - what should i do now??? Thanks

I have tried to call and also use the webchat but I never get far enough to talk to anyone about the penalty /closure. Can someone please tell me how I can confirm what the state of the account and the penalty is. Thanks

Hello, so I have been sent a letter from HMRC about the self assessment but it’s for my dad that passed away last year, the letter says I was his personal representative to which I didn’t not agree and also was not in contact with him at all. I can’t get through to HMRC as they are “busy” as well as it states I have to pay 7k which I don’t even have that much money nor would I be able to pay that in that amount. Could someone help me with this as I feel like my name was used illegally for this matter. Thanks

Hi Steve OConnor,
If you registered to file your Self Assessment returns online, you should be able to see your account and any penalties due via your personal tax account, which you can access via GOVUK.
Alternatively, if you're unable to contact us by phone or webchat, you can request details of your account in writing
Please write to us at:
Self Assessment,
HM Revenue and Customs,
BX9 1AS,
United Kingdom
