Payment not being taken off toal owed

I paid £300 on the 4th of Jan and then another £300 on the 5th of Jan and it still isn't being taken off my total amount of tax owed. I currently have a bill of £1235 and I have paid £500 already which would be £735 but with the £600 I paid in Jan it should be £135. I'm just worried that I'll be fined. Just to note that what should be outstanding will be paid before 31st of Jan.

If your payments are still not shown and have been taken from your bank account you will need to contact HMRC to trace and allocate the payments
