Hi, We've recently sold our campervan, it was originally just an empty panel van but we kitted it out ourselves. We bought it with our own personal money through a personal account, have used it for a few years and then sold it on a personal basis. It has sold for more than we spent on it, would we have to pay tax on any gains made or would it be treated like any other personal vehicle for tax purposes? Many thanks

Hi,
This is likely to be treated as a wasting asset - CG76906 - Wasting assets: road vehicles.
Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. Could you please confirm whether a campervan would be considered a passenger vehicle as it is used for private use or would it be considered a commercial vehicle because it is a type of van? I had a read but it doesn't specify campervans specifically, Many thanks

Hi Dave,
A campervan is considered to be a passenger vehicle.
Thank you.
