Hi, I am a resident in Northern Ireland however for the last 6 months I have been working in the Republic of Ireland. (I commute daily.) When completing the self assessment form, I am unsure whether this income qualifies for foreign tax relief or not and what amount as the calculation couldnt be completed within the online self assessment portal. Can you please advise?

Hi Peter Pedlow,

Your income would be taxable in the UK.
If you have paid tax in Ireland, you would be entitled to claim foreign tax credit relief, so that you are not taxed twice on the same income.

Thank you.
