Hello, I have a two day contract until next March and I am taking up another low paid job for one day at another company. I am thinking to be off payroll. My earnings at the other company are tax free. Do I need to do self assessment if I earn £500//month at the other company? Also if I have to do so. Am I better off being unrolled to their payroll than being self employed? Thnaks!

Hi,
If you earn over £1000 over the course of a tax year, and you have not paid tax via your employer on this income, you will need to declare this income by filing a Self Assessment return.
We unfortunately can not advise on whether being payrolled or Self Employed would be preferable, but if you require any more advice on how each system works, contact us by webchat or phone via Self Assessment: general enquiries
Thank you.
