I stopped all paid employment in April 2021. I received a single final payment from my employer in the tax year 04/21 to 04/22 and then I received a tax refund for overpaid tax when I filed my 21/22 self assessment. Do I need to declare that tax refund as income in my 22/23 self assessment? Thanks

No, your refund is effectively income from 2021 to 2022 that is being returned to you after we have confirmed how much tax you actually owe for that year. You do not need to declare that refund in 2022 to 2023.

Thank you.
