Hi I have filed my self assessment for this year and the payment on account is not showing up as deducted from the calculations. Can you kindly let me know how this should be enetered.

Hi,

The tax calculation only accounts for payments deducted directly from your income.

Any payments on account are reflected on your statement and should not be included on the tax return. once you submit the tax return any revised statement balance will take into account the payments made.

Thank you.

I have a similar issue. I have already paid £2700 on account for 22/23 (last payment made in July 2023). The actual figures in my self assessment for 22/23 which I have saved online is £3200, but I am bei g asked to pay this by Jan 31. I retired on 31 Mar 2023 so have asked for the First Payment on Account for 23/24 to be zero on the self assessment return. But why do I have to pay the £3200 for 22/23 when only a balancing payment of £500 is needed ?

Hi Andrew Airey,
The tax calculation doesn't take into account payments made direct by you, this will be reflected on your statement once you submit the tax return.
Thank you.

Hello, I paid 2nd payment on account in Feb 2024, it was described as not yet used and not, unlike first payment on account, as 2nd payment on account. After 6 April 2024 and thinking maybe I paid it too early I received the money as a repayment on 10 April. I immediately sent it back as I still needed to pay 2nd payment on account. Today it shows as being received in payments/credits but still described as not yet used. Why isn't it described as 2nd payment on account? Do I need to do something else, or is it correctly described and on after 31 July 2024 it will be allocated appropriately? Thanks

Hi,
As the 2nd payment on account is not due until 31 July 2024 the payment will show as a credit and will be allocated closer to the due date.
Thank you.
