Hi, I have submitted on form to Register for Self Assessment, this includes getting your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) on 11 Sep 2023. The webpage of 'Check when you can expect a reply from HMRC' claims that I should have received a reply by 2 October 2023, but I still haven't received any. May I know what I can do now? In addition, my family member relocated to the UK last year, he has less than £100 interest from Hong Kong bank saving in tax year 2022/2023, which was no tax deducted on the interest, and he has income from the full time job in the UK, other than these, he has no other income. Does he need to file self assessment return? Thank you.

Hi kimsin,

If you have not yet received the UTR then you will need to contact HMRC to review.
You can check if you meet Self Assessment criteria at Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return

Thank you.
