Hi, hope someone can answer my question. Both me and my wife work for company's and both pay tax and ni contributions through PAYE. We also do a bit of work for a dog walking franchise who pay us into our joint bank account for the dogs we look after. This will exceed £2000 in the next tax year ( 23/24). I also did a bit of work for a builder while I was furloughed which was also paid into our joint bank account. My understanding is that we are both OK for upto £1000 but other people say we are OK upto £2500 each..... I'm confused, do I self assess or not?

Hi Robert Flounders,
If you are working as self employed then the threshold is gross income of a £1000 or more but you can still meet the criteria under certain circumstances if your income is below this.
You can check if you meet the criteria at Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return
Thank you.
