Tax on Charitable donations

Why am I being taxed on my charitable donations? This has been happening for several years now but I thought charitable donations were exempt from tax. My husband doesn't pay tax on his donations. He is working, I'm retired!

Hi CazCan62,
If you have claimed gift aid on your payments and do not pay tax, then you need to pay the tax on behalf of the charity.
If so, you will need to withdraw the gift aid relief.
