Hi HMRC Last year I left my PAYE job and became self employed from 24/04 to 31/08 through the CIS scheme. I had benefits in kind with my previous employer such as a company car and health plan. Can you please let me know if those benefits in kind would have continued to affect my tax even though I was self employed and on CIS. I’m asking because when I went back into being a PAYE in September I still got taxed on these benefits in kind even though they were from my previous employer and my new employer did not offer these to me, so I kept getting taxed more each month because of this. Hi,

Your employer would usually contact us to update any Benefits in Kind in your code following your departure. As you were employed with them briefly in 2023 to 2024, a small amount of BIK should still have been applied to your code.
