I am a retired civil servant (Hong Kong) and receiving a monthly pension. To my understanding, this part of income is not taxable in the UK according to the double taxation agreement between the two countries. Someone told me that I still need to report this income on the self-assessment form. Is it correct? If yes, where should I put this information in the form? Thank you.

Hi
You will make reference to it on the comments section only and under which article number it is UK exempt.

Sorry, I do not really understand what you mean. As Hong Kong Pension is a foreign income, do I need to declare the pension income on the 'Foreign Page' and claim 'Foreign Tax Credit Relief', state the reason of the claim on the comment/remark. Thank you for your advice.

Hi,

The pension is only taxable in Hong Kong and should therefore not be declared as foreign income on your return. You can make reference to it in the comments section.

Thank you.
