Good morning, just completing my 1st return, only going part timeself employed in Nov 22, I have mileage costs for visiting potential customers but have zero sales, I have 1 PAYE employment to which I am in the 20% bracket. Can I claim back my mileage costs for the self employed business against the tax I've paid through my PAYE and if so how and where on the SA pages ?

Hi

The expenses cannot be claimed on your employment section of the Return as they relate to self employment.  You should include the expenses on your self employment section which will create a loss.  Please see HS227 Losses (2023) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) for further information.

Thank you
