I sold a property during the 22/23 tax period. I have paid capital gains tax on it. The self assessment form asks me for capital gains and asks me to pay more tax on it is this correct? Do I need to declare it on the self assessment form as I have already paid tax on the capital gain? Thanks

Hi

Yes, you are required to declare the gain again in your 2023 self assessment tax return.
You will get credit for the tax already paid by entering the relevant amounts in the boxes 'Total gains or losses on UK residential property reported on Capital Gains Tax UK Property
Disposal returns' and 'Tax on gains already charged'. Please see  Capital Gains Summary notes

Thank you
