Stopping Self Employment

I will retire at the end of this tax year April 2025, Is it best to let the HMRC know on the 5th of April or on the 6th of April? Also, will my government gateway stay open? So I can send in my tax return for my final year.thank you Kara

Once you have retired you can then contact our Self Assessment team to update your records.

Yes, your online account will remain open to allow you to file the 2024 to 2025 Self Assessment tax return.
