I submitted the above on 26/01/2024. However, I was not able to attach a signature on the online form, only a date. I have received a receipt from HMRC letting me know that my tax assessment was received. My question is: would the unsigned self assessment be a problem or can I resubmit a signed version (I would have to wait until I speak to the support staff for the third party software company) to find out how to attach the signature. Hi Shirmel Duggins,
While a signature is not required if your return is submitted online, you can resubmit your return with a signature if you choose to do so.
Thank you.

Unsigned self assessment tax return It’s my first time to file a tax return from overseas. I mailed my tax return today, but I realize that I forgot to sign it. Will HMRC send it back to me? Or should I submit another tax return again immediately? Thanks

Hi ericisok LEE,
HMRC will return your unsigned form to you, but we would advise that you send another tax return with signature immediately.
Thank you.
