I'm due a tax refund & it says 'Bank repayment pending' on my account and has done for at least the last 7 days but I haven't received any funds. How long should this usually take?

Hi,

It can take up to 10 working days to process the repayment. If after 10 working days your repayment is still showing as pending then the repayment will have been selected for security checks. These checks can take up to 6 weeks.

Thank you.

This is still showing as 'bank repayment pending' and it's been like that for more than 2 months, not the 6 weeks you referred to. What security checks and why so long, this is my money & I want it back!

Hi, I hope you are well. I submitted my tax returns over a month ago and still have not received the refund. After multiple hoops on contact numbers, I finally managed to reach an IVR that told me that this would be actioned by 7 August 2024. Last time, this was credited to my HMRC account, and I had to transfer it to my bank account. This time, it said that if you provided bank details, it would be directly credited to my bank account. So neither has happened till now. It's still showing "Repayment Pending". Could you please advise when the amount will be credited back? Thanks

I went into an Iva in 2022 without no warning my utr was cancelled and changed long story short I’m waiting for a substantial refund from when I was issued a payment pending on 21-12-23 every week I phone up and get told a different load of twaddle you can’t register complaints with hmrc and if my payments were late it would be £100 fine and then £10 a day why does this not work both ways it seems they are above the law and make it up as they go along

I requested a repayment and after a week It was no longer pending but back in my credit on my HRMC account, does this mean that I will be sent it or not?

Hi,

If your repayment was showing as pending, and is now displayed as a credit,
please try claiming your repayment again - it's most likely undergone security checks, which have now cleared.

For more advice on your repayment, contact us by webchat or phone via :

Thank you .

A repayment has been requested and initially it stated “Payment Pending” it now states “payment made to you” however I have not received money into my bank account. I also have a copy of the repayment request and have checked the account details and they are correct.

Hi ,

Your pension payment is deducted from your earnings to work out your adjusted net income.

This gives you your full personal allowance, as your adjusted net income is below £100,000.

You are taxable on £128478.

Your basic rate band is increaded by the gross sum paid into your pension, so that you are taxed only at 20% and not 40% on this sum.

This gives you the additional 20% tax relief to go with the 20% claimed by your pension provider.

Thank you .
