Hello, I'm trying to speak to a human being about self-assessment through the HMRC chat tool (https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/ask-hmrc/chat/self-assessment). This morning I'm being told "Our advisers are not available to discuss your query at the moment". I don't see any indication of the hours when advisors should be available on the web pages - when is this chat manned?

Hi PeterRabbit,
I am sorry to hear that you have not been able to talk to anyone on our Webchat service yet. While advisors may not be immediately available when we experience high volumes of customer contact, our webchat service is manned between 8am and 8pm.
Thank you.

Do you have to pay tax on money received from the courts for petrol, loss of wages and food when doing jury service?

Hi ,

You would need to declare any reimbursement for loss of earnings as you are effectively still being paid .

Thank you .

For 12 months you have been sending mail addressed to the previous tenant. I have no forwarding address. I have returned the letters (maybe 20 to 30 times) saying no longer at this address but you ignore this and keep sending mail. How can I stop you doing this.

Hi Max Ziff,
We are sorry that you are still receiving correspondence after returning the previous mail received. If you contact our Income Tax team, this can be updated to stop further post being issued. Income Tax: general enquiries
