Hi HMRC advisor, I hope you are well. I moved to the UK on 5-April, 2024. I have a medical insurance in Hong Kong and cancelled it this month (Sep, 2024). Once I cancelled it, I can withdraw money from the Insurance company, Do I need to file self assessment tax return for this money in the year 2024/2025? Thank you so much.

Hi,
Not for that, but you should check if you meet the requirements for any other reason:
Who must send a tax return
Thank you.

Yes, I have the foreign income, I'll need to submit for self assessment. So my question is if I need to declare this money when I submit the self assessment. Thank you.

Hi,
Yes, you need to send a return (and declare the income) if you owe UK tax on foreign income.
Foreign income includes:
wages if you work abroad
foreign investment income, for example dividends and savings interest
rental income on overseas property
income from pensions held overseas
Thank you.
