RE: Cancel the medical insurance and withdraw the money
Yes, I have the foreign income, I'll need to submit for self assessment. So my question is if I need to declare this money when I submit the self assessment. Thank you. -
RE: Foreign income received after moving to UK
Do you mean that it is only treated as an taxable foreign income when I earn it in the current tax year, not when I receive it in the current tax year? Thank you so much. -
FX remittance rebate
Hi, I hope you are doing well. I have a foreign bank account which is multiple currencies integration account. There are HKD and USD. I purchased something by USD. Bank gave me cash rebate in USD, as far as I know, it should be non-taxable in UK. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Hence, the bank also gave me FX remittance rebate in HKD on the same day, is it taxable or non-taxable in UK? Thank you. -
Exchange rate of foreign income
I know that HMRC provides monthly rate, average rate and spot rate for foreign income. If I have 3 foreign incomes, can I use different exchange rate types for those 3 foreign incomes? or I have to use the same exchange rate type for all foreign incomes? Thanks. -
Cancel the medical insurance and withdraw the money
Hi HMRC advisor, I hope you are well. I moved to the UK on 5-April, 2024. I have a medical insurance in Hong Kong and cancelled it this month (Sep, 2024). Once I cancelled it, I can withdraw money from the Insurance company, Do I need to file self assessment tax return for this money in the year 2024/2025? Thank you so much. -
Foreign income received after moving to UK
Hi HMRC tax advisor, I hope this message is finding you well. 1. I had a full-time job in HK and my last work day on March 2023. 2. I moved to UK on 3-Apr, 2023. 3. I received the salary from HK employer on 6-April, 2023. The payroll month is actually March 2023, but I received it in 6-April, 2023. 4. I got an offer from UK company and start to work from May, 2023. 5. I've lived in UK since 3-Apr, 2023, until now. Q1. I believe I am a UK tax resident in the tax year 2023/2024. Do I need to file self assessment tax return for the salary received from HK employer? Q2. If yes,do I only need SA100? or there are other forms I need? Thank you so much. -
ISA account
I would like to clarify about tax status of ISA account. For example, I have a cash ISA account and put GBP 20,000 into the cash ISA account for 1 year, the interest rate 5%, so there will be £1000 interest. If I transfer the interest £1000 from cash ISA account to current account, is this £1000 taxable? I keep £20,000 into the Cash ISA account. Situation 2: If I transfer the principal £20,000 into the current account and leave the interest £1000 into the ISA account, is the principal £20,000 taxable? Situation 3: If I transfer the principal £20,000 and the interest £1000 from cash ISA account to the current account, is the total £21,000 taxable? Situation 4: If I transfer some money, say £11,000 from Cash ISA account into the current account, and keep £10,000 into the cash ISA account, is £11,000 taxable?
