I just got my first pay for my 2nd job where I'm registered as a sole trader, given I didn't start this employment till November 2024 and have just been paid (Dec 17th) - do I need to submit a tax return by 2025 or is that for the previous year?
Apologies, new to this world and want to ensure I'm paying the correct amount of tax/NI on my 2nd income.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi DEHafod,
Please see guidance at: Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return regarding your circumstances.
In general terms if your self employment commenced on or after the 06 April 2024 then any income arising from this date should be reported in a tax return for the year 2024/2025. The return will be issued after the end of the tax year on 05 April 2025. However you may receive a Notice to File before this.
Please ensure that you have registered through Become a sole trader: Register as a sole trader.
However you state that your second job is an “employment” that commenced in November 2024 and you were paid on 17 December.
Please Check employment status for tax to determine if the job is one of employment or self employment.
Thank you
