Dear HMRC Department, I am currently completing my first tax year in the UK and would appreciate your guidance on which forms I need to submit. I arrived in the UK in September and have been working remotely for a company based in Hong Kong. I have not transferred any income from Hong Kong to support my living expenses in the UK. From my understanding, I believe I qualify for split-year treatment. Could you please confirm if I should complete forms SA100 and SA109? Additionally, is SA106 required in my case? Otherwise, please correct me. Thank you for your assistance.

Hi ,

You will need to review the guidance and tax the statutory tests at RDR3 :

RDR3 Statutory Residence Test

to determine if you are tax resident for the whole tax year .

If you are, you then have to determine if split year treatment applies .

You will need to complete a self assessment tax return (SA100) SA102 (employment) SA106 (Foreign) and SA109 (residence).

You can call the self assessment orderline at :

Self Assessment tax return forms .

Thank you .
