Having completed my 2022/3 self assessment using the HMRC software, there appears to be a discrepancy in the Detailed Tax Calculation. The top lines indicate the various monies received (salary, pension, interest etc.) and a total income, then shows the personal tax allowance figure. Finally the taxable income is shown, which, as I understand it, should be the difference between total income and the personal allowance. However, the taxable income shown is £180 greater than this difference (going back I notice this was also the case last year). Is this incorrect, or if it is correct, why is this?

Hi

Yes the taxable income would be the gross income received minus the personal allowance.
To review the difference we would need to access your record.
You would need to contact HMRC our details can be found here
