Hi, I'm struggling to fill in my tax return and self-assessment. I used to be freelance for a company up until May 2022 and then they put me onto a payroll. I technically was self-employed for a month in April 2022 so should fill in my self-assessment since I earned over £1000 in that month. However, when I go to fill in my self-assessment it asks how many self-employed businesses I have but I don't have any since I always worked for the same business, but now I'm on a payroll. What should I do for this one month I was self-employed for this tax year?

Hi

You will still declare this 1 month as self employment and give an end date of 30/04/22 to show that it has ceased.

Thank you
