Hello, I am very worried and don't know how to proceed: because I had to provide residence and additional information as a non-resident, I could only complete a print version of the document. In addition, I live abroad so the document duly completed was sent on 22 September from France, via registered post. When I left France one week ago, I still hadn't received a confirmation that it had been duly received by HMRC. I went back to the Middle-East where I live, so I have no way to track the info from here. There is no indication on the website that it has been received. The AI chat doesn't give me any contact mail for me to reach them. I really don't know what to do, so any help is welcome. The deadline is in a couple of days only, so I am very nervous HRMC doesn't get it in due time. Many thanks.

Hi,

You will need to contact our Self Assessment team to check if the return has been received.

Sir, with due respect, if you find my message on this forum, is because I have tried all that I could. Obviously, inter alias, I have tried to find an email contact for your Self Assessment team, a whatsapp, anything really, a beacon of hope somewhere. From far abroad, it's not that I can call the UK and be on hold for a while, it will cost me a lot of money. There is a demand for feedback on this forum page, I can write it here: it's not helpful at all, in fairness, I feel even more hopeless now that I have received your reply. It would be so helpful to people who live so far away from the UK, and for whom a submission online wasn't possible because of the HRMC rules, to have someone to liaise with via mail. I just don't know what to do really. I did everything in advance, I double checked the post address etc..but I am unable to get the confirmation my tax return has been duly received. Best regards.

Hello, I just wanted to report back that I had a message from HMRC on their website, which can only have been issued after they had reviewed my tax return: so it has been duly received. Many thanks to all that have been trying to help me. As a conclusion, I would advise HMRC to propose to the category of people outside of the country that fit some characteristics (maybe to preven that they receive too many demands) an email address so that a correspondance can be established. Many thanks again.

Self Assessment: general enquiries.
When you open the page if you click on the link Ask HMRC online this will allow you to webchat.
Thank you.

Hello, the issue has been addressed, but I am replying for everyone's benefits, if there is a way to improve this. As I have previously mentioned, I had obviously tried ask hmrc online and to webchat, but I can insure you that whatever I was trying in my circumstances was not enabling me to chat with anyone. It just did not work for a non-resident, not in the UK, that has completed a self return on paper sent by post. There is no solution to have a dialogue. The only reply was to give a call, which was not a practical solution for me. Maybe someone could test it as well, to be a Jane Doe with that type of characteristics. All the best and thanks again.
