I have submitted on-line self-assessment for many years but was told by HMRC that I am no longer required to submit self-assessment, effective from 24/25 (first full year as a retiree). However, I have larger than usual interest income in 24/25 and made an investment in a VCT, the tax rebate from which broadly offsets the tax on interest income, although I will be due a tax refund once these are netted off. There doesn't appear to be any way to access an on-line form for 24/25. Do I sit tight ands wait for them to appear (when?) or should I submit a paper form, with additional pages (which I am able to download).

Hi,
If you need to submit a 24/25 return but your record has been closed, you can reregister to file here - Check how to register for Self Assessment .
This should then allow you to file your 24/25 return online.
Alternatively, contact us by webchat or post via Self Assessment: general enquiries - we can update your record to allow you to file for 24/25.
Thank you.
