We ended our working tax credits claim in September 2022 as we were no longer eligible due to change of circumstances. Due to error in processing the termination of claim by HMRC, we didn't receive a renewal pack as we should have after April 2023, but eventually after much confusion our income figures were taken. The provisional statement issued by HMRC shows my income figure for the whole year, April to April, despite the claim having finished in September (and no payments having been made since then). Should all income not have been pro-rata up to September? Many thanks.

Hi neartotears,

The income HMRC take is an annual figure and will be shown on the award notice, however when an award is calculated we work out a daily rate and apply it to the award period based on current circumstances and income, in effect it does pro rata the income.

Thank you.
