HMRC's overseas scale rate was last updated in February 2019. In many cases it is no longer representative of the true cost of living abroad when travelling on business as those costs have been significantly impacted both by the Covid pandemic and by more recent inflationarry pressures. What would HMRC consider to be a reasonable adjustment to these rates? When does HMRC envisage updating the published guidance?

Hi,
You still need to use the rate as per the guidance.
We cannot comment on any policy changes planned or not#.
Thank you.
