Hi I have been a foster carer for 3 years. I haven't earned enough to pay tax amd have only just noticed that I haven't been getting N.I credits. I was working previously so never looked into these things and assumed when I did my tax return it would calculate and N.I due too. Do I qualify for N.I credit and do I have to reapply every tax year?

Hi,
If you are/were an approved foster parent, foster carer or kinship carer, you can complete and return form CF411A which you can download in the following linklink
CF411A – Application form for Credits for Parents and Carers
This form is an application to apply for the National Insurance credits.
You would not need to reapply every tax year.
Thank you.
