Hi, I’ve submitted my return on the 1st of December and on the same day the tracking said it was sent for further checks. Just trying to find out what this means. Our products are zero rated so we are only getting a refund and never had an issue in the past 3 years. Refund amount hasn’t changed either, just wondering what this means and if anyone else has experience it and whether this has delayed payout? We usually get ours within 7 working days from submission.

Hi,
This would just mean that it is being checked by our compliance team and this is a very normal procedure.
However if you don't receive the payment within 30 days then please contact our Helpline on 03002003700.
Thank you.

Lovehut, did you get an update on this? I also have filed return on the 1st and have had no update as to 'Sending for further checks' since. I have contacted HMRC a couple of times, and nothing other than its still being processed. I am like you where we sell zero VAT products and in the 3 years this is the longest it has taken for us to receive the refund.

Mine is also on sending for further checkers, we regularly require repayments as in a growth phase so lots of capital purchases which outweigh our sales. Usually gets sorted within a week or so of submission. This time has been sent for further checks on 1 Aug 2024, same day the return was submitted. Today is 26th and still nothing yet… I have been told they are quite busy with it being summer and just come to the end of a quarter. Although through weekly phone calls to the VAT helpline I have been assured it will be sorted by the end of the month. I hope this is the case as will start to affect cash flow.

Ok so my one from last month went through just in time for the 30 day after continuous chasing over the phone, I have a new one now which went over the 30 day limit a few days ago as we submit monthly. The online tracker is saying it is delayed so I am back to chasing again. Also submitted a formal complaint now as we’ve never had such problems like this before. The nature of the business requires VAT repayments on a regular basis so this is really becoming a problem for keeping the company solvent.

I've just had the same, submitted on 1st, usually it shows by 8-10pm the following day that it's been accepted, still waiting. I assume they are busy or there's been a delay
