I want to lease a car for business use but not through a business company.
Can I claim VAT back?

Hi John
Hello. Please see guidance at: Motoring expenses (VAT Notice 700/64)  sections 2.3 and 4.2.
Thank you.

Hello, Thanks for getting back. It’s not clear whether I have to have a business to claim back or if I use the car for business purposes I can still claim vat back on a lease agreement . Regards

Hi,
For any VAT incurred to be considered input tax, then the business would need to be incurring the VAT on the lease and a VAT invoice made out to the business who is receiving the lease. You can see guidance here:
Introduction to input tax
Thank you.
