The background is
I am a sole trader, there is only my trading name available in my VAT Certificate, and the trading name is NAME B and it is not my business name NAME A that shows in UKVAT Checker.
So I need to change my trading name to NAME A, so I can provide amazon a "VAT Certificate that shows trading name that match with UKVAT Checker NAME A"
I have changed the trading name in May 30 in my VAT account business detail page, after the change pending 3 days, today it reverse back to the old name in the business detail page.
I don't know what to do, does HMRC receive the change request or I need request to change again?
I chat to HMRC adviser online, the adviser told me it take at least 1 month to change the VAT information.
I also check the time phrase in the page Check when you can expect a reply from HMRC
I was told if I contact HMRC today, "You can expect a reply by 22 August 2024"
My question is, What is the fastest way to change my VAT trading name?
Try online change again?
Write email to vatchangeofcircs@hmrc.gov.uk to request information change?
Fill a form and post it ?
If it will take 1-3 months for HMRC to handle the trading name changing request, I also want to know what information or certificate I need to provide at the same time when I post the form or send the email.
If I don’t change the name in time, Amazon may suspend my account and I may lose income while waiting for HMRC’s response. So it is important to me.
I also want HMRC know, as a sole trader, if HMRC do not provide a VAT certificate with business name, it is not reasonable, because amazon keep request me to provide a VAT certificate with my business name, but HMRC do not provide it for sole trader.
If the VAT business name is showed in HMRC UK VAT checker, and the VAT certification for sole trader that shows ONLY shows trading name, although it the same VAT number, but since the business name and trading is not matched, the cerficate the useless , at lease that what Amazon think.
As what I know, the VAT certificate for sole trader was including business name before, but not anymore now.
So can HMRC put the business name back to VAT certificate for sole trader again,
If the British government really cares about small businesses, please stop adding unnecessary trouble to them. I have spent three or four days looking for relevant information online and searching the HMRC forum. I just want to solve my problem as soon as possible and don't want to lose my income.
