Hi hmrc admin I feel a bit confusing that if i have a full time job and at the same time i am a sole trader who sell goods on ebay. (i am a private seller, NOT vat-registered or business) and my annual turnover of the trades on ebay is far under £90,000. And i know that i dont need to apply VAT registeration if under £90,000 threhold. but Do i need to charge the customer VAT (that's included into the price of an item), and remit it to hmrc one day? or i dont need to do anything as i am under the threhold? thanks

Hi.

You would only need to become VAT registered if you make taxable supplies over the VAT Registration threshold.

Please see below:

Who should register for VAT (VAT Notice 700/1)   .

Thank you .

Hi Just to add. If you are making or buying goods to sell at a profit then that is considered a business as a sole trader not a private seller. A private seller is someone selling off their own possessions/used goods. Only VAT registered business can charge VAT .
