Refunds of UK VAT for non-UK businesses

We have noticed that now is possible to claim the refund of VAT for businesses established outside the UK, by electronic meanings. In this sense, we would like to know if the original invoices and the original certificate of status of the company would be also needed or would be valid the scan copy of those documents. Thank you.
