RE: NI Contribution . Sick/Under CMHT but not on benefits
Hello team. Please can you advice / direct me for following query. My husband had a stroke in April 2022. We did not claim any benefits ( wish should have). He was on SSP May -Nov 2022. I was not unaware that WE have to pay NI for those months. He started working back from Dec 2022 and got redundancy in Oct 2023. Citizen advice and Job Centre suggested to apply for ESA however it got declined that he has not contributed towards NI during his sickness ( which A we were not aware B is unfair as already struggling with finances on small SSP how can one pay NI). Please can you advice what should we do.
