Your return 25 - Income tax refunded or set off
I made amendment to my 2021/22 submission in 2022/23 tax year, and received a refund. Do I need to include the refund in the 'Your return 25 - Income tax refunded or set off" for this 2023/24 tax year assessment? -
RE: Incorrect start day on PAYE Income Tax History
Hi, there isn't really a way to contact HMRC. The link takes me round in circle. Please would you advise how to contact HMRC to correct my previous employment start date. Many thanks. -
Incorrect start day on PAYE Income Tax History
Hi, I’ve just found out that the start date on one of my previous employments on the PAYE Income Tax History is wrong. This is a slightly problematic because I am being screened by a new employer who checks my past employment history against HMRC PAYE Income Tax History records, and the start date on the HMRC PAYE records are not matching with what’s on my employment contract. I lost my P45 so I don’t know what the previous employer wrote on the form. Can I ask HMRC to correct the start date on the PAYE Income Tax History records? Thanks. -
RE: Is Box 44 Residential property finance costs applicable for the Rent a Room Scheme?
Hi, Could I double check what overpayment relief claim you're referring to? Is it a Rent-a-Room or Residential property finance costs? -

RE: Is Box 44 Residential property finance costs applicable for the Rent a Room Scheme?
Hi, thanks for the reply. I mean for the year that I opted in Rent a Room Scheme with a lodger, not before I got the lodger in. Regards, -
20% Tax relief on residential property income
Last tax year I wasn't aware of the 20% tax relief on residential property income, and so didn't include any financial costs. Looking at last year tax calculations, it appears that no relief was taken into account at all. - Is it possible to carry forward the mortgage interest from last year (2021/22) to this year (2022/23)? - If so, do I just add the mortgage interest from April 2021 to April 2022 to the "Unused residential property finance costs brought forward" box? and; - mortgage interest from April 2022 to April 2023 to the"Residential property finance costs" box? Many thanks. -
