  • RE: Moving abroad

Hi again, Thank you for your response to my initial message. I would like to understand if I need to complete the SA109 form and send it to HMRC this year or next year? Because the current version of the form refers to tax year 2023-2024 that I was a UK resident. I moved back to Greece in January 2024 and I spent more than 6 months living in the UK for tax year 2023-2024. I would like to fill in my tax return to HMRC online for tax year 2023-2024 and then next year to inform HMRC that I am now a resident of Greece and send the SA109 form next year. I cannot complete a paper tax return this year as I have nearly completed my online tax return and I cannot meet the deadline of 31st of October for paper tax return. Is sending the SA109 form next year for the tax year 2024-2025 acceptable to HMRC? King regards

Hello, I moved permanently back to Greece in the beginning of 2024 after living in the UK for the last 8 years. I complete a Self Assessment Tax Return and I am currently filing my online tax return to HMRC for the tax year 2023-2024. Do I need to complete the ‘residence’ section (form SA109) and send it by post to HMRC this year or next year? Is there any other, simpler, way to inform the HMRC that I am no longer a resident of the UK and I will not be completing self assessments from the tax year 2024-2025 onwards as I will be a Greek resident and I will be taxed here in Greece. Kind regards
