RE: Am about to pay CGT after a house sale, but will soon incur a loss when I sell shares
Hello HMRC Admin - I am in similar situation, so will really appreciate if you could please clarify. Have sold a BTL property in Nov-24 at small capital gain, but also sold shares couple of days AFTER incurring some capital losses. I am still within 60 day window, can I offset the losses against the gains now?... or do I have to wait to complete a full return and only then get CGT refund back for the losses? regards -
CGT - Can Stock Mkt Losses realised few days after Capital Gains from BTL sale be offset?
Hello, I have £11K of Capital Gains from UK Buy To Let property sale, and couple of days later realised Capital Losses of £7.5k from stock market - can these be offset as part of the CGT return to be filed and paid within 60 days of BTL sale? Asking this clarification because in the return, one line says..."You must have made the losses before DD MMM 2024 (i.e. the sale date of the BTL property)" If my Losses are realised few days after the Gains, are they still eligible for offsetting? Regards
