Change of tax code due to payment of pension lump sum
I had a lump sum payment from a pension. This had tax deducted but also meant my tax code was changed for the monthly payment I receive which means I will have overpaid tax this year. Is there any way the tax code can be corrected or do I have to wait until the end of the year for the repayment? Will this affect my tax code next year or will it revert back to 1257L? -
RE: CGT overpaid for 2022/23 to HMRC no info on Refund process
HMRC Admin Would you expect interest to be paid on the following? Tax on CGT paid on property disposal during 21/22, subsequent sales of shares gave losses and therefore overpaid CGT for the year. Tax return for 21/22 submitted and request for refund of overpaid tax sent in September 2022. Refund not paid until May 2023 without interest. -

Did you get interest paid on your refund? -

It is interesting you said they would pay interest on the overpayment. My husband waited 8 months after requesting the refund - there was no interest paid on it. I have this morning been on Twitter to their customer services to be told interest would automatically be included if it is due. I said it was a manual payment and they had taken so long to do the repayment I would have thought interest should be included. The reply I got was interest would have been paid if due and they were working hard to clear the backlog. I still think interest should be paid. Don't expect interest.
