I recently left my prescription glasses at the hotel on holiday and hotel is kindly returning it for me. But I've been charged by the UPS the customs fee £77.60 (Gov Charge 65.40 + Brokerage Charges 12.20).
The original value of the glasses are £276. (£229.99 + VAT £46.01)
Why do I have to pay customs charges on my own belonging and it is originated from the U.K? It's not even present.
Also, UK VAT is paid already when I bought the glasses at optician and now another VAT is added again on original VAT inclusive amount, at the customs again. It's becoming compounding VAT.
Is it correct?
