  • RE: Business closure and Self Assessment

Hello again, I've tried quite a few times to inform you that I've ceased being self-employed through the link above, but my request keeps getting rejected, not sure if that's because I've updated my address, but the reason I've been given seems to be that my address doesn't match your records. I then spoke to one of your colleagues on the phone who said that he didn't have the option to do it for me as my last year self-assessment was still due. I've now done last year self-assessment and it is marked as filed, but I'm still not able to inform you that I've ceased being self-employed. I've relocated to Italy already, so I really need to sort this out as soon as possible. What's the right procedure now please? Thank you!

  • Business closure and Self Assessment

Hi there, I'm registered as a Sole Trader (not VAT) and have decided to relocate and leave the UK. I still need to submit my Self Assessment for the year 2023/2024 and also 2024/2025. I stopped working at the beginning of August and I'm planning to open a business in Italy within the next couple of months. Can I close the business now and inform HMRC before submitting both Self Assessments? Thank you for your time! Devid
  • RE: VAT and Customs charges from UK to EU.

    Thank you for the info.
  • VAT and Customs charges from UK to EU.

Hi there, I'm registered as a sole trader and run a small motorcycle clothing repair business based in the UK. I'm getting more and more enquiries from customers who are from the EU as they like my work and I would like to know what charges we both might come across when sending parcels to each other. Obviously I'm not VAT registered. Will I need to pay anything when receiving parcels from the EU even if those items will be sent back after they have been repaired? Thanks Devid
