RE: Cash gift from parents outside UK
Dear HMRC admin, I am Myanmar/Burmese citizen and staying in UK with dependent visa. My parents in Myanmar want to help me with my living costs but they don't have a bank account which is capable to transfer money to my UK bank account. So, their friend who has Thailand bank account will help to transfer about £11,000 equivalent from his Thailand bank account to my UK bank account. I would like to know whether it is possible since money will be coming in from a friend and I am holding a dependent via. Do I need to declare anything? Will this be subject to tax implications? Thank you
