Thank you. What would the position be if my salary is paid by my UK employer in GBP into my Uk bank account but I will be working and living in Hong Kong from September to March. Would I pay UK income tax or Hong Kong tax for the period while I am in Hong Kong (7 months)? -
Income Tax when returning to UK from Hong Kong
Hi For tax year 2023-2024 I was in the UK for the whole tax year. This year I am going to be working in Hong Kong from September 2024 to March 2025. Whilst in Hong Kong I will be paid in Hong Kong dollars on the payroll of my UK employer's Hong Kong office. I was told that before leaving Hong Kong I will have to go and pay tax to the Hong Kong Authorities. Under the double tax treaty, will I only pay tax in Hong Kong? My concern is that I also get taxed by the UK when I return. Many thanks
