  • RE: What year should I choose to pay the missing year?

    Thank you for your kind reply. I don't have access to The Pension Service because I don't have 2 out of the 3 documents they request (UK photocard driving licence / UK passport / Credit reference questions), But I requested it by ordinary mail and they sent it to me, together with the shortfall rates table I mentioned in my message. However, that didn't solve my query about what year I should pick or if I can pick any year. Tax Year Annual amount 2006 2007 £163,80 2007 2008 £163,80 2008 2009 £163,80 2009 2010 £163,80 2010 2011 £163,80 2011 2012 £163,80 2012 2013 £163,80 2013 2014 £824,20 2014 2015 £824,20 2015 2016 £824,20 2016 2017 £824,20 2017 2018 £824,20 2018 2019 £824,20 2019 2020 £163,80 2020 2021 £78,75 2020 2021 £413,10 2021 2022 £158,60 2022 2023 £163,80 2023 2024 £179,40 Thank you very much. Kind regards,

  • What year should I choose to pay the missing year?

My query is as follows: I have 9 qualifying years of National Insurance contributions so I need to contribute for 1 further year to be entitled to a State Pension. I received a table with the shortfall rates owed from 2006/07 to 2023/24, but the figures vary a lot from one year to another (eg. £163.80 in 2006/07 vs £824.20 in 2013/14) When making the bank transfer, can I choose what year to pay, or should it be the last one or anyone in particular? Thank you in advance! Nuria
