Hi,
If you want to claim actual expenses to then claim a loss, you would need to declare this in the return even if the income from self employment was below £1000 and as such, you will need to amend the returns. Please also refer to guidance in relation to allowable expenses.

RE: UK property inherited from a Canadian citizen. Is this subject to Capital gains tax
Hi,
As the UK property was not his main or only residence, capital gains would be due on the sale of the property. This should be declared by the estate for them to pay any taxes. You will therefore need to liase with the canadian exectutors to ascertain the position. As you did not sell the property, no capital gains is due to be paid by you.

Hi,
You do not need a tax return but you will need to send in the certificate with a cover letter to confirm that you are claiming full relief under exclusion 100 for this to be done.

The withdrawals would be seen as pension income and as UK resdient you would be liable on your worldwide income, subject to an double taxation agreements and therefore would need to show the details on your return.

Hi,
Under the terms of the double taxation treaty, income from employment carried out in Hong Kong is only taxable there and as such doesnt need to be declared here.
