RE: Client request for invoices with VAT
Hi,
If you are not currently over the registrtion threshold then there is no requirement to register for VAT. However you can choose to register voluntarily. Please see the guidance below, specifically section 3.9:
Who should register for VAT (VAT Notice 700/1)
It would therefore be your choice and also your choice as to whether you want to continue doing business with the client.

RE: New property solely Registered Under My Name , but money from husband
Hi,
There are no Income Tax implications when individuals use the proceeds of the sale of an overseas property to purchase a UK property.
We are unable to comment on whether any additional non-tax charges or costs would be incurred.

RE: Declaring income in self assessment
Hi,
You can record your business income and expenses either excluding or including VAT. However, you must treat income and expenses the same way. If you choose to include VAT, you have to record VAT payments you make to HM Revenue and Customs as expenses, and VAT repayments you receive from HMRC as income. You can see guidance here:

RE: Is state pension included in the NMW calculation?
Hi,
The State Pension is a benefit paid by the government and not your employer. It does not count when calculating pay for National Minimum Wage purposes.

RE: Property
Hi,
Usually, an individual's share from the jointly owned property will be included as part of their personal rental business profit. Individuals who have jointly owned property should know who is keeping the records and have access to them. They are personally responsible for including their share of the income in their own tax return even if they agree that someone else will keep the records.
In this case, income, and expenses, received to mid September is split 3 ways and thereafter in 2 ways. Further information is available here:
